Ordering a repeat prescription
The safest way to order your repeat prescription is online - you can either download the NHS app or register to use SystmOnline
See your available medicines, request a new repeat prescription and choose a pharmacy for your prescriptions to be sent to. You can do this from your phone, tablet or computer.

How do I register for SystmOnline?
To use the SystmOnline service, you need to request a SystmOnline username and password from the practice. You cannot register for this service online because the practice needs to verify your identity with photographic identification.
- Using pages 4-7 of the new patient registration form you can either:
- print off, complete by pen and bring in the form, along with your photographic ID (passport or driving licence)
- complete the relevant pages of the form on your computer and email the form to us at email@example.com - we can then video phone you to see you with your photographic ID
There are printed versions of the form in our reception foyer which you can complete - please bring your photographic ID with you
Once you have registered, we will give you a SystmOnline username and password. If we hold an email address for you that has been verified as being correct (this means the practice has sent an email to you in the past and you have replied to it), we will also send you a confirmation email containing your SystmOnline username and the SystmOnline website address.
Problems ordering your prescription with SystmOnline?
Use the SystmOnline Support Centre before you call us.
You can obtain a repeat prescription by the following:
- Printable form to email or post (for non-repeat items)
- Printable form to email or post (for repeat items)
- By putting your repeat prescription request form (ie the green tear off slip on the reverse of your prescription) in the repeat prescribing box in the foyer
- By post
- By asking at the front desk (not available during lockdown)
If you use a pharmacy repeat ordering service, you must tell them if your medications have changed otherwise they may not order what you need. This service is only available to patients who meet certain criteria.
Please note - we do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone
Please ensure that the items you require are requested clearly by ticking the appropriate box on the repeat request form, or if you do not have a repeat request form, please ensure that your name, address and the items you require are clearly indicated.
How long will it take?
In order to safely process the large number of requests we get each day please note that we need two working days to issue repeat prescription requests. The schedule for ordering and collection is:
We send the majority of repeat prescription requests to the pharmacies electronically.
Patients should be aware that most pharmacies can now arrange for patients' prescriptions to be collected from the practice on their behalf. To arrange this please contact your own pharmacist directly.
Please allow two working days, excluding weekends and bank holidays, for your request to be processed.
After this time, if you need to find out where your medication is please contact your nominated pharmacy to check. We are a separate organisation from all pharmacies and do not have that information.
If you get your prescription dispensed by Birmingham's Chemist, please allow a further seven days for them to process it.
